Twenty Quilt Contest for Quilt Alliance

About 5 months ago I was reading one of my favourite Magazines "Where Women Cook" and came across an add for a Quilt contest, exhibition and auction.

My "Twenty Wonderful Words" Quilt for the contest

It was put on by a nonprofit organization called Quilt Alliance. The Theme for 2013 was “TWENTY,” a broad theme that celebrates "twenty": the numeral, the concept, the quantity, the word.

When I saw it the thought of twenty wonderful words just popped into my head. I thought I should really do this.
Well of course time flies by and I hum and haw. Procrastinate. Then feel guilty because I always have these great plans to do all these wonderful things and then I don't do them.
But there was something about this that kept nagging at me.

Ten days left before the entry deadline I headed to the sewing room to
"JUST START".

Three days straight I sewed and created. I loved it. Time went by so quickly.  I wouldn't have even eaten if it wasn't for my sweet daughter Megan who looked after all what needed to be looked after:)

Thanks Sweet Megan

And so after four more days
 I finished my
"Twenty Wonderful Words
Quilt

With Three days to spare I had by quilt packaged, posted and off in the mail.

I was so happy that I did it.

I really needed to do this right now. Just for me.

Yes very happy indeed.

Packaged, Posted and Mailed :)

Too Many Vases

Ever wondered what to do with all those glass vases
 that you get with your
beautiful bouquet of flowers from your
Special and Wonderful friends
.......besides give them to good will.....

Well last year (I am sad that I didn't take any pictures)
I decided to try and pot a plant in one of them and see if it would grow.
To my surprise
 it did
and was one of the potted plants that did really well.

I thought I would give it another go.
Last year I planted Fuchsias in the vase,
this year I did Begonias.
I never have too much luck with Begonias,
but I thought because the Fuchsia did so well maybe this little Begonia would too.

Happy planting. xoxoox

Sushi Mess

For the last two days I have been thinking and craving Avocado rolls.
We just couldn't find the time to go for sushi so today I decided to make
them myself.

My first time. They are a bit of a mess but they did the job. Now my belly is
full and my cravings are met. :) Yum.....

Over the Moon with Happiness

It was a very happy day for me,  two wonderful things happened

 1.   My Mammogram was clear. Two years free and counting and........
2.   I signed up for an on-line workshop with one of my favourite artist
        ................life is grand...................

Christy Tomlinson is one of my favourite artists and teachers. I have taken four
on-line classes with her and she is amazing.

She Art No. 3 starts February 12th.

And...........................

February 12th may just be the best day ever, my mom who has been fighting
Ovarian Cancer for the last year and a half may be well enough to make the trip to my home
so she can stay with me for the last couple cold months of winter.

"Lets Hope......and have Faith, the Love is Already in Place"

It's That Time of Year Again

My Pop Shoppe PEEPS
Like all of you Artisans out there know,
this time of year begins to take on a pace of its own.
It's like a high speed chase with several directions,
stops and starts and at the finish line a "Fata Morgana".
 Does it ever end.
I don't think so, not for the crafter, because their mind is going 24/7,
 idea upon idea.
Relentless and never ending.
But can we think of a life without it,
not in my mind and I'm sure not in any of you other hard core artsies.
I've tried to think about why my mind works like this, but there are no answers except that it is
apart of me,
who I am,
in my blood as they say,
 my genetic make-up,
what ever,
 here I am.
Accept and move on and love it cause we can.

So what's on my chopping block this fall?

Here's a few items I'm getting ready to ship out to various retailers.
A bunch of crocheted bracelets
Coasters
Hot pad and coaster set Retro colours
More "Peeps"
Lucy Coin/change purses

Christmas Cards made from my original canvas

To name a few are the local
"Art Gallery",
a lovely little shop in town called the
 "Art we Are",
a few items for my etsy store and then holding back some items for
 my craft fair in November.

After that I plan on taking a break,
relax my 24/7 mind of ideas
and spend some much needed time
with my dear and precious family
(because my life doesn't function very well with out them).
